Boys Basketball Heads to Area Tournament After Winning Regional Consolation Game

The Bronchos are headed to the 4A Area Basketball Tournament this weekend after finishing as the Regional Consolation Champions this past Saturday. The Bronchos (4A-#7) opened the regional tournament with a close 45-42 loss to Bishop McGuinness (4A-UR), but then battled back through the consolation bracket beating Purcell (4A-UR) 77-65 on Friday and finally upending Bridge Creek (4A-#13) 89-50 Saturday to qualify for the Area Tournament. The Bronchos will be vying for a spot in the state tournament next week. To qualify they will need to win three straight games in the Area Tournament, starting with a game against Stilwell (4A-#14) on Thursday in Okmulgee. The Bronchos will play at 2:30 PM on Thursday, February 29 (ticket link below). If they advance they will play again at 2:30 PM on Friday, March 1. If they advance again they will play for a shot at the state tournament in the Area Consolation finals on Saturday night, March 2 at 7:30 PM.
