Boys Basketball Captures Second Straight Regional Championship
Perkins, OK - For this second straight year the Bronchos (4A-#8) are the 4A Regional Champions, this time in impressive fashion with a 59-43 victory over Metro Christian (4A-#11). Bethany took control of this one in the opening minutes of the game and never gave Metro Christian any breathing room with stifling defense and an impressive shooting performance on the offensive end. Senior guard Brennan Burns continued to showcase his ability to get to the rim as he has all season long and led the Bronchos with 23 points in this regional championship game. Cameron Burns also had a big night adding 12 points to the tally for the Bronchos.
The are the regional champions and for the second straight year it sends them to a 4A Area Championship game against the top ranked team in the state and conference rival, Kingfisher (4A-#1). Kingfisher comes in off a 90-41 victory over Clinton in their Regional Championship game and they boast a record of 25-0 on the season. The Bronchos played Kingfisher tough in their conference matchup earlier in the year in a game the Yellowjackets won 75-63 at Bethany. This time the Area finals will be played on a neutral court at Stillwater High School on Friday, March 6 at 8:00 PM. The winner of that one will automatically advance to the State Tournament Field to be played the following weekend at "The Big House" in Oklahoma City.
