Bronchos notch Two Big Wins as Tough Matchups Lay Ahead
The Bronchos basketball team had a rough stretch in January with several close losses, but the last two games are a different story. After a close road loss to Clinton (4A-#19) the Bronchos returned to host Heritage Hall (4A-#3). Heritage Hall, a perennial title contender in Class 4A, and Bethany had a back and forth battle throughout much of the game. The Bronchos eventually outlasted the Chargers though and came out with a 52-47 win. In the next game Bethany (4A-#20) hosted Elk City (4A) and put together one of the Bronchos' most complete games of the year thus far, taking down the Elks 71-48. These two wins move the Bronchos to 9-8 on the season, but it's important to remember that seven of the Bronchos' eight losses all were games that were decided by seven points or less.
Bethany now starts a tough stretch of the schedule with a matchup against Crossings Christian (4A-#4) tonight on the road. The Bronchos will makeup a snowed out game at Elgin (4A) on Thursday, February 10 before coming back to host Anadarko (4A-#17) at the Sawyer Center on Friday, February 11. Bethany then will take on top ranked Kingfisher (4A-#1) on Monday, February 14, followed by the top ranked team in Class 3A, OCS on Tuesday, February 15.
