Kaylen King Breaks School Records in 800M and 1600M Races
Bethany Senior Kaylen King now owns both the 800 Meter Run and 1600 Meter Run Records for Bethany High School. King first set the 800 Meter Run Record in 2019 with a time of 2:22.21 but has since improved that time to 2:19.86 most recently at the Western Conference Championships on April 19th in Elk City, where she was the conference champion.
King has also broken the 16-year-old 1600 Meter Run Record, in each of the previous three meets the Bronchos attended in April. Most recently she set her best mark thus far in the season at Bishop McGuinness on Saturday, April 24th, with a time of 5:27.30. The record was previously set in 2005 by Danielle Smith who recorded a time of 5:34.14.
Kaylen will try to better these times as well as qualify for the 2021 State Track Championships in the 400 Meter Run, 800 Meter Run, and 1600 Meter Run at the Class 4A Regional Championships at Plainview High School on Saturday, May 1st.
