Big 6th Inning Pushes Lady Bronchos Softball to Win Over Ponca City
Perry, OK - In the final game of the Perry Tournament Saturday, the Bethany Bronchos softball team ran off with the lead late in the game in a 6-1 victory over Ponca City (6A). The game was tied at one with Bethany batting in the top of the sixth when Avery Parsells singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Ponca City had knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Jadyn Barger threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Ponca City. Barger though ended up being the winning pitcher for the Lady Bronchos. She went six innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out eight and walking one.
Clark took the loss for Ponca City. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits and walking one. Bethany racked up 12 hits in the game. Lauryn Scalice, Lillie Mathers, Parsells, and Kate Thomas all collected multiple hits for the Lady Bronchos. Bethany was sure-handed in the field as well and didn't commit a single error throughout the game. Ponca City racked up five hits on the afternoon with Blackstar and McMartin each having multiple hits. The Lady Bronchos return to action on Monday with a home district contest with Newcastle (4A).
