Boys Cross Country Finishes 3rd at the State Championships
Edmond, OK - The Bethany boys Cross Country team took to the course on Saturday looking to be a factor in the state championships after their regional championship from a week prior. The Bronchos were indeed a factor and brought home a 3rd place finish, which is the second highest finish in school history after the State Runner Up finish from 2017. The Bronchos came into the State Championships after winning the regional meet the week before. At that regional meet Bethany had three runners in the top 10 and all five scoring runners in the top 15. Levi Johnson, Mason Wyett, and Cole Powell finished in 6th, 7th, and 8th place, respectively.
This weekend, at the State Championships, it was Cole Powell who led the Bronchos with a 17th place finish, running a time of 17:01.51. Mason Wyett was the next Broncho finisher, running a time of 17:22.87 and finishing in 26th place. Levi Johnson crossed the line with a time of 17:28.18, which gave him a 29th place finish. Nolan Stayton (40th) and Keegan Ross (55th) were the other two runners who finished in scoring position for the Bronchos. Sebastian Caballero and Max Greene also ran for the Bronchos.
This great finish ends the season for the Bronchos in the first year of Head Coach Zac Coulson's tenure. Throughout the season the Bronchos have seen tremendous improvement and will look to build on that next year as six of the seven runners that competed at the State Championships will be returning.
