Bronchos Defeat Ada in Overtime to Win District Title
Ada, OK - The Bethany boys soccer team had another long road trip Tuesday night, this time to take on Ada, in a game that would secure a district championship for the Bronchos if they came out on top. Bethany came out and played a very physical game in taking on a very athletic Ada squad. Ada took the first lead of the game a few minutes before halftime on a Broncho mistake, but the Bronchos came out of halftime inspired and determined, putting the Ada back line to the test and eventually tying the game with just over 20 minutes left in the game off a Jocelyn Malaska finish just inside the 18 yard box.
The Bronchos would continue to push, creating several corner kicks and free kicks that were dangerous but could not find the net in regulation. The game went to extra minutes tied at 1-1 and after a scoreless first overtime, the Bronchos finally found the net off a Dax Jaggers penalty kick late in the 2nd overtime to win 2-1. This is the Bronchos' second district championship in history and first since 2011. The Bronchos final regular season game against Cushing, originally set for April 16 has been canceled due to a lack of players for the Tigers. The Bronchos will finish the regular season with a record of 8-4 and a 7-0 record in district play. They will play in the first round of the OSSAA playoffs on Monday, May 3.
