Bethany's Lawson Stout Earns Football All State Honor
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Oklahoma Coaches Association announced their annual All-State Football Team this week and Bethany's own Lawson Stout was among the 26 players chosen to represent the west side of the state in the All State Game which will be held on July 26, 2019 at Union-Tuttle Stadium in Tulsa. Stout, who has been instrumental in the Bronchos' success for the past three seasons made the team as a defensive back. He is only the 12th All-State football player in Bethany history.
Stout has been a three year starter for the Bronchos on the defensive side of the ball and leaves the program after helping lead Bethany to the 4A Semi-Finals in 2017 and the 4A State Finals in 2018. He leaves Bethany with 322 career tackles which puts him as the third all time tackler in Bethany history behind only Chris Chamberlain (399) and Aaron Gray (431). In addition to his excellent stats on the defensive side of the ball he also had a fantastic year at wide receiver with 559 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. His receiving yardage puts him ninth all time on the Receiving Yards Per Season list.
Bethany Head Coach Jon Arthur had this to say about Stout, "Lawson is the epitome of the kind of players we have as a part of our football program and this is a tremendous accomplishment. He was a tremendous player for us and much of his success is due to his fantastic work ethic and 'never quit' attitude. Lawson never missed a summer weight room session throughout his four years of high school which shows the level of commitment he had to this program and more importantly, to his teammates. Far greater though is that Lawson is a fantastic young man of character off of the football field, which is the number one thing we strive for in every player that comes through our program."
Stout will be joined on the West All-State team with some familiar foes from District 4A-2 including Linebacker Dylan Coffman and Quarterback Carson Berryhill both from Tuttle.
